Coomaditchie runs a range of programs that support our young people and families at every stage, from school through to employment. Whether it's helping a student reconnect with education through the Ngaramura Project, building work-readiness through the paid WorkFoundations program, or offering free after-school support through Learning Club, each program is grounded in culture and community, and shaped around the needs of the people who take part.
Programs
The Ngaramura Project
The Ngaramura Project, delivered by Coomaditchie United Aboriginal Corporation and funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency, supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people through culturally meaningful pathways in education.
The Ngaramura Project supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people who may be at risk of school suspension, expulsion, disengagement, or who feel disconnected from culture.
WorkFoundations
Coomaditchie is proud to deliver WorkFoundations, a Australian Government program through the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) that supports individuals on their journey toward employment.
Learning Club
The Learning Club is partly funded by the Elsa Dixon Aboriginal Employment Grant and run by Coomaditchie. It is a safe, culturally grounded space where all young people can get support with their studies and stay connected to community.
Dreaming Stories by Ngaramura students
Dreaming stories, known as Alcheringa, share the creation of the land, culture and laws of the Illawarra. Passed down through generations, they include teachings from the creator spirit Biamie and his son Duramulun. Coomaditchie Elders continue to pass on these stories through oral tradition and art, with the following works adapted and illustrated by young artists from the Ngaramura Project.
